# Create an app

**Portal version:** 0.1.0
**Updated:** 2026-08-28
**Source menu item:** Create an app
**Availability:** Documented and testable

> The source contract and local workflow exist. Access still depends on the target hospital deployment and its policy gates.

Use `medos-app create` to scaffold into an empty directory with strict project metadata and no copied secrets.

## What you can use now

- Choose a stable lowercase app ID, publisher ID, HTTPS app URL, and semantic version.
- Commit `.env.example`; keep `.env` and signing keys outside source.

## Current limits

- Creation does not register, certify, install, or activate the app.

## Next step

Start with the [medOS Developer overview](/developers/platform/overview) and confirm the target hospital’s enabled contracts before production work.
